Parks Canada Players Linking Community Organizations
The Rideau Canal Experience
This is a new site worth checking out to find out what events are
happening along the canal. There are also good links, tour
information and pictures.
Friends of the Rideau
The Friends of the Rideau, a member of the Canada Parks
Partnership, is one of the many "Friends of ...." volunteer, non-profit
organizations across Canada. Together with the other members of
the Canada Parks Partnership, and Parks Canada, they work to
provide Canadians and international visitors the opportunity to learn
about and support our natural and cultural heritage. They encourage
people to get involved and to help protect special places, such as
the Rideau Canal, for future generations to use and enjoy.
The Bytown Museum
The Museum is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, at the
Rideau Canal locks between Parliament Hill and the Château
Laurier – one of the most picturesque sites in the city. Join us to
explore Exhibits, Programs and Events that showcase our once
rough-and-tumble past. Or just grab a coffee at our café and watch
the boats go by.
Parks Canada
On behalf of the people of Canada, we protect and present
nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural
heritage and foster public understanding, appreciation and
enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative
integrity for present and future generations.
Haunted Walks
The Haunted Walk is Ottawa's most popular walking tour company.
Locals and newcomers alike are fascinated by these glimpses into
the darker history and haunting of the Nation’s Capital. All of our
stories are thoroughly researched and will delight even the skeptics
in the group!
Laurier House
Laurier House commemorates two of Canada's most notable prime
ministers, Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the Rt. Hon. William Lyon
Mackenzie King. For over fifty years, from 1897 to 1948, the house
occupied a central position in the political life of Canada, as the
place of residence of Laurier and, after his death, of Mackenzie King.
King bequeathed the house to the "Government and people of
Canada" in the belief that future generations would be interested in
the place where they lived, where they entertained dignitaries and
politicians, and where they often conducted the business of the
country.
Fort Henry
Fort Henry is both a museum and a spectacular historic site. Once
inside the fortification's wooden gates visitors enter a marvellous
reproduction of 19th century military life. The site offers guided tours,
scenic views, and musical performances from a military band and
military and marching demonstrations by the Fort Henry Guard. The
Fort also plays host to numerous special ceremonies and events
throughout the tourist season, so don't be surprised if you get a little
unforeseen bonus during your visit.
Rideau Heritage Route
Welcome to the Rideau Heritage Route. Let our travel guide lead
you on a beautiful adventure of the world famous Rideau Heritage
Route. Wind your way through historic sites, charming villages,
quaint attractions and spectacular recreation areas from Kingston to
Ottawa.
Ottawa Tourism
Ottawa is a city of waterways: the majestic Ottawa River, the fast-
flowing Gatineau, the placid Rideau. But no waterway has defined
Ottawa like the Rideau Canal. It is, in fact, the reason Ottawa exists.
